Prerequisite

You need a Valency account. Sign up here if you haven't already.

1. Open Claude Desktop's Connectors page — or navigate there manually: in Claude Desktop, click Customize, then Connectors

2. Press Add, then Add custom connector

3. Enter the name:

   Valency

4. Enter the server URL:

   https://labs.valency.io/mcp

5. Click Add

6. Sign in with Google or email when prompted

   Note

   Sign in with the email you used to register at app.valency.io. It does not have to match the email on your Claude account.

7. Start a new conversation and ask: "Find papers by Hinton" (more prompt ideas)

Success: You see paper results in Claude's response. You can also explicitly invoke Valency tool calls.

Note

Have a Code tab in your Claude desktop app? That's the GUI version of Claude Code, and it reuses these same connectors — no extra setup needed.
