ChatGPT Desktop

For the ChatGPT desktop app, which includes Codex.

Prerequisite

You need a Valency account. Sign up here if you haven't already.

1. Open the ChatGPT desktop app

2. Open Plugins, click the gear icon (), then MCPs, then Add server

3. Before filling anything out, set the type to Streamable HTTP

4. Enter the name:

   Valency

5. Enter the URL:

   https://labs.valency.io/mcp

6. Once the form looks like this, click Save:

   

7. After a few seconds, a sign-in window appears. Sign in with Google or email

   Note

   Sign in with the email you used to register at app.valency.io. It does not have to match the email on your ChatGPT account.

8. Start a new conversation and ask: "Search for papers about quantum computing" (more prompt ideas)

Success: You see paper results. You can also explicitly invoke Valency tool calls.
