# MCP Bond documentation > MCP Bond connects AI assistants to research sources through a hosted Model Context Protocol (MCP) server. This file helps agents find the setup path they can actually carry out, plus reference and troubleshooting documentation. For an installation request, first check whether Valency's `list_sources` tool is already available here. If it returns sources, report them and stop; do not create a duplicate connection. Otherwise identify the assistant and mode you are actually running in. A shell in a browser or desktop assistant does not make it a terminal CLI. If an exact match appears under **Agent setup prompts**, read that prompt in full and follow it: perform the configuration steps available to you, involve the user for browser OAuth or a required session restart, and verify with a real `list_sources` tool call. Do not claim success from a configured server or menu entry alone. For every other surface, do not pretend you can operate its connector or authentication UI. Send the user to the [interactive setup picker](https://docs.valency.io/) and offer to verify the connection with `list_sources` once they return. If an agent setup prompt cannot be fetched, send them to that picker to copy the complete prompt for their surface; do not reconstruct it from this index. This file is a discovery index, not an installation prompt. ## Agent setup prompts - [Codex CLI](https://docs.valency.io/setup-prompts/codex-cli.md): In the terminal `codex` program, add the direct MCP connection, involve the user for OAuth, and verify. The ChatGPT account MCP app does not install this CLI connection. - [Antigravity CLI](https://docs.valency.io/setup-prompts/antigravity-cli.md): In the terminal `agy` program, add the direct MCP connection, then have the user authenticate after the server loads. - [GitHub Copilot CLI](https://docs.valency.io/setup-prompts/copilot-cli.md): In the terminal `copilot` program, add the direct MCP connection, then have the user resume the session and complete OAuth. - [VS Code Chat, Agent mode](https://docs.valency.io/setup-prompts/vscode.md): Guide or perform extension installation where your tools allow it; the user completes browser sign-in. ## Conditional direct CLI prompts - [Claude Code with an API key or proxy](https://docs.valency.io/setup-prompts/claude-code-direct.md): Add a direct MCP connection only when the normal Claude account connector cannot be used. The user performs interactive CLI login and resumes the conversation. - [Grok Build without its Grok account connector](https://docs.valency.io/setup-prompts/grok-build-direct.md): Add a direct MCP connection only when the normal Grok account connector is unavailable. The user enables and authenticates it in `/mcps`. ## Documentation - [Markdown landing](https://docs.valency.io/index.md): Overview of MCP Bond and its complete supported-platform directory. - [MCP tools](https://docs.valency.io/reference/endpoints.md): Tool names, arguments, and results. - [Example prompts](https://docs.valency.io/reference/examples.md): Research tasks to try after connecting. - [Troubleshooting](https://docs.valency.io/help/troubleshooting.md): Connection, authentication, and tool visibility issues. - [FAQ](https://docs.valency.io/help/faq.md): Accounts, OAuth, and supported platforms. ## Optional - [Complete documentation](https://docs.valency.io/llms-full.txt): All pages in one large file; use only when broader context is needed. - [Claude guide](https://docs.valency.io/guides/claude.md): One account connection for web, desktop, and Claude Code, with a direct CLI option for separate providers. - [ChatGPT guide](https://docs.valency.io/guides/chatgpt.md): One browser-created account app for web, desktop, and mobile; Codex CLI has its own setup. - [Grok guide](https://docs.valency.io/guides/xai.md): One browser connection for Grok and Grok Build, with a direct CLI option for separate providers. - [Other MCP clients](https://docs.valency.io/guides/other/mcp-client.md): Generic streamable HTTP and OAuth details for a user following the picker.
